Mercè Vidal i Jansà

Phd in Art History by the Universitat de Barcelona (1989), historian,art critic, she is Honorary Professor of Art History at the University of Barcelona and member of the UB’s Consolidated Research Group (GRACMON). She has collaborated in specialized journals such as Serra d’Or (since 1972), L’Avenç, Matèria, Design Discourse Japan or Docomomo International and has deeply researched on the the Noucentism period and other topics related to heritage and architecture. The study Theory and criticism in Noucentism: Joaquim Folch i Torres (1991) earned the Puig i Cadafalch IEC’s Award (1990) and the National Award for Plastic Arts delivered by de Catalonian Goverment (1991). Among others, she has also published Els arquitectes Antoni i Ramon Puig Gairalt. Noucentisme i Modernitat (1993); 1912. L’Exposició d’Art Cubista de les Galeries Dalmau (1996); Arquitectura i urbanisme a Sant Feliu de Llobregat 1826-1936. De Pere Serra i Bosch a Nicolau M. Rubió i Tudurí (2005), for which she obtained the Local and Regional Research Award “Llorenç Sans”, and, recently, Joaquim Folch i Torres. Llibre de viatge (1913-1914) and Enric Prat de la Riba i les Arts. Recull epistolar 1911-1916, besides directing the work Joies del Noucentisme. Curator of the «Joaquin Folch i Torres Year», has participated in numerous international exhibitions and conferences.
