Joaquim M. Puigvert i Solà
PhD in Contemporary History at the University of Barcelona (1990). Currently he is Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Girona and Director of the Martí Casals Chair of Medicine and Health in Rural Areas at the same university. His main research interests have focused, first, on the social history of the Catalonian Church in the XVII-XIX centuries and, secondly, on the social and cultural history of the liberal professions in contemporary Catalonia. Within the first line stand out books like Una parròquia catalana del segle XVIII a través de la seva consueta (Riudellots de La Selva) (Barcelona: Fundació Salvador Vives Casajuana, 1986) and Església, territori i sociabilitat, s.XVII-XIX (Vic: Eumo Editorial, 2001). Onto the second line of research he has published several articles about collectives of doctors, pharmacists and veterinarians; on the architectural profession stand out monographs like Josep Danés i Torras. Noucentisme i regionalisme arquitectònics (Barcelona: Publicacions de l’Abadia de Montserrat, 2008) and, in association with Jeroni Monder, Materials per a l’estudi de la masia de Josep Danés i Torras (Girona: Documenta Universitaria, 2010). Together with Narcís Figueras has been curator of the exhibition La Mancomunitat de Catalunya a les terres de Girona (2014).
